2025 Modern Slavery and human trafficking statement

2025 Modern Slavery and human trafficking statement

 Grenade (UK) Limited (“Grenade®”) has published this statement (“Statement” ) in accordance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015, and reiterates its commitment to a work environment that is free from human trafficking, forced labour and unlawful child labour (collectively “human trafficking and slavery”). It also strongly believes that it has a responsibility for promoting ethical and lawful employment practices.

 Accordingly, Grenade® will not knowingly use unlawful child labour or forced labour in the manufacture of the products it sells, nor will it accept products and/or services from suppliers that employ or utilise child labour or forced labour.

Rationale

Human trafficking and slavery are crimes under UK and international law. These crimes exist in countries throughout the world. This policy statement thus defines Grenade®’s commitment to ensuring that human trafficking and slavery does not exist within its own business, but also provides how Grenade will make efforts to eradicate the same from other businesses with whom it shall maintain a relationship (and especially from within its supply chain).

Grenade® has a nominated employee who acts as the senior compliance officer whose responsibility includes anti-slavery and human trafficking along with their other responsibilities, and will take appropriate steps to ensure not only its own compliance but also that these requirements are followed by its suppliers, subcontractors and/or business partners (collectively by its “Suppliers”) worldwide.

Our organisation, business and supply chains

Grenade® is a UK sports nutrition and healthy snacking brand, known for its high-protein bars, shakes and confectionery products. Grenade (UK) Limited is a subsidiary of Mondelēz International Inc. Grenade® operates primarily in the United Kingdom and sells its products through major retail, grocery, wholesale and online channels across UK and internationally.

Grenade®’s supply chain encompasses a range of suppliers providing raw ingredients (including proteins, cocoa derivatives, dairy, and packaging materials), co-manufacturers and service providers.

Our people

All employees have guaranteed contracted hours and we do not use zero hours contracts. Our People Team regularly review employment contracts to ensure that pay and other terms meet the required levels under UK law. Part time and fixed term employees receive pro rata contractual entitlements, and contracted service providers are paid in line with the Living Wage Foundation recommended rates.

 Capability building and prevention is prioritised, and Human Rights training is a core part of our onboarding process for all new employees, raising awareness of our Human Rights Policy. The People Team review the completion of this training.

Employees have the ability to speak up where they have any concerns, either to their line manager, the People Team or via anonymous routes, supported by policies in place with Mondelez International Inc., Grenade®’s parent company.

Our suppliers

We set clear standards for our suppliers, which we expect to be met as part of the working relationship.

Our requirements for Suppliers:

  • Will not use forced or compulsory labour, i.e., any work or service that a worker performs involuntarily, under threat of penalty;

  • Will ensure that the overall terms of employment are voluntary;

  • Will comply with the minimum age requirements prescribed by applicable laws

  • Will compensate its workers with wages and benefits that meet or exceed the legally required minimum and will comply with overtime pay requirements;

  • Will abide by applicable law concerning the maximum hours of daily labour;

  • Will not engage in any practice of slavery, servitude, forced labour, compulsory labour and/or human trafficking outside the UK which would constitute an offence if that conduct took place within the UK; and

  • Will ensure that any sub-contractors or suppliers from whom they source goods and/or services for incorporation in those supplied to Grenade, also adhere to these requirements.

If a Supplier to Grenade®is found in violation of this policy, Grenade®will take prompt action which may include terminating any supply agreement,arrangementor other contract with that Supplier (as above). It shall also take such other (remedial) steps as the senior compliance officer shall determine to be necessary to address the violation and seek to prevent its reoccurrence.

Future actions being taken into 2026 and beyond

Grenade® are investing in additional roles which will have a direct impact on the ability to ensure robust practices with suppliers can be reviewed, including those concerning Modern Slavery. This includes investing in Procurement and Quality personnel. These additional roles will ensure that due diligence processes, such as supplier questionnaires and third-party assessments, are completed, together with assessing our supply chain to a much deeper level. This will improve the robustness of both the onboarding of new suppliers, but also the on-going review of current suppliers. In the longer term, Grenade® will look to review further into the supply chain, to assess businesses that supply the raw materials to our key product suppliers.
